Everyday people tell their stories at media festival

McInnis, Woloszyk and Williams were just three of the participants in Mobiflicks, a contest in which teams write, produce, shoot and edit a six-minute story at PAH (Project Accessible Hollywood) Fest Motown, now in its fifth year at Madonna University in Livonia. Created by filmmaker Christopher Coppola, PAH Fest is a digital media festival which travels around the world to celebrate the stories and voices of everyday people. Chuck Derry, director of broadcast and cinema arts at Madonna University, said judges chose five stories for the Mobiflicks competition. The storytellers and other contest participants comprise the five teams. Each team has a coach. Derry coaches McInnis and Woloszyk. “We'll help them tell their story with camera, mikes and lights,” Derry said. Many participants have experience in filmmaking, but the films “can be created by a grandma with her grandkids,” Derry said.
