Anna S. Hamm
Anna S. Hamm, 43 years a resident of Willow Grove and Hatboro 25 years' residence until 1968, died Sunday, June 26, 2011, of congestive heart failure in his sleep at the Genesis Center in Willow Grove Spring Garden. She was two months before his 102nd birthday.
She moved from New Jersey to Pennsylvania in the 1940s. Anna worked for the former Hills Grand Valley Health Food Co. for ten years, followed by 25 years with Sears Roebuck in Abington. She was a people person and enjoy meeting the public.
She was an active volunteer until age 97 when she became disabled and went to care.It belonged to the Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 3126 Morning Light for over 60 years and was a founding member of the Women's Club of Crooked Billet.
She was active in the Willow Grove United Methodist Church. She also offered pre-computer days, with the first graders in the district of Upper Moreland School as reading and math tutor, and in youth services with troubled teens Aldersgate.
Finally, it led to the House of Eastern Star nurses to visit and comfort the patients in his 90. She helped children, adolescents and the elderly.
Anna was the wife of the late Elmer V. Hamm, a labor lawyer.She is survived by his daughter, Judith Davis and her husband, Perry, Willow Grove, little son, Gregory Davis and his wife, Mary Beth, of Chalfont and small son, Aiden and Owen Davis of Chalfont. She was the beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews in New York, Michigan, Illinois, Virginia and California.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 10 am until the time of his memorial service at 11 am on Wednesday, July 13, at Willow Grove United Methodist Church, 34 North York Road, Willow Grove. Falls service will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Prospectville.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Anna to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106 or Willow Grove United Methodist Church, 34 Road, North York., Willow Grove, PA 19090.
